Basal Cell Carcinoma: “Small and Flat”

Here’s an example of why it’s always a good idea to get your skin abnormalities checked out: an ‘annoying pimple’ in this bride’s wedding photos which later turned out to be Basal Cell Carcinoma.

Apparently, after her honeymoon –  “the spot became a scab that wouldn’t heal, but she didn’t think it needed treatment because it was small and flat.”  She only received her diagnosis after approaching her doctor about a different skin abnormality.

Deborah Crofts grew up in New Zealand, and puts the diagnosis down to UV exposure as a child.  Luckily, she does not need any more treatment for the time being.  She maintains a vigilant attitude with regards to her family’s sun safety, saying:

“No amount of tanning is worth the stress of healing cancerous skin cells.”
